Musical Instrument Specialists since 1888

For over 120 years, KBB Music has been with Kiwi musicians all over the country. During this time, the company have seen many changes.

From a small shop in the Plaza Theatre building (see left) on Queen Street back in the days, to Landmark House, then upstairs at 47 High Street in 1984, Kirk-Burnnand & Brown, as it was known then, has moved several times.

Since 1992, KBB Music has been at its present on 157 Manukau Road in Epsom, Auckland.

In a bid to make Kirk-Burnnand & Brown sound less like a solicitor's firm, the name was changed to KBB Music in 2003.

The year 2010 marks a milestone in KBB Music's 122-year history. After 22 years at the helm, previous owner and Managing Director, Alan Kemp, have decided to move onto the next exciting chapter in life.

In November 2010, KBB Music was acquired by Webb Enterprises Ltd. (W.E.L.) Group of companies. Building on extensive experiences in the UK and Europe, W.E.L.'s Managing Director, Mick Webb, has a simple philosopy - Buy quality products in bulk, promote through innovative marketing, and offer real value for money. Today, the Directors at W.E.L. are still the same team who founded the business and remain actively, and passionately, involved in the NZ Music industry.

Meanwhile, KBB Music's focus and points of difference remain the same. All of KBB Music's current suppliers have endorsed W.E.L. to continue with, and grow their brands in New Zealand. The acquisition therefore presents KBB Music with many exciting opportunities for the growth of its current brands, introduce new and exciting brands and products to the most important people of all - you, our customers.


KBB Music now has:

* A Piano Showroom in our Auckland Central store

* A dedicated school supply division providing musical products and accessories throughout New Zealand

*A specialist in-house Repair Workshop

* A Musical Instrument Rental division supplying student instruments to budding musicians nationwide
