Hiring an Instrument
KBB Music has the largest range of
instruments to hire
in New Zealand
Our hire plans are designed mainly with
parents in mind (but anyone can hire an instrument) - give your children the opportunity
to learn a musical instrument without having to buy one.
If they stick with the instrument, you can apply some or all of your hire fee towards the
purchase - with no finance charges.

Keyboard Hire:
All the keyboards we offer for hire have full piano sized keys - don't be tempted to buy
or even borrow a "mini-key" type- you will only have to re-learn finger
positions when you move on to full size key keyboard.
A 4 octave keyboard has what is the smallest number of keys available on a keyboard. This is usually fine for a beginner to get started on.
Most people who ultimately buy a keyboard buy the larger 5 octave keyboard - they simply have more notes. You can start by hiring a 4 octave and apply all your hire fees towards a 5 octave. Ask your teacher though - some prefer you to start off with the full 5 octaves.
"Touch sensitive" is another term that may need explanation. When you hit a key hard on a touch sensitive keyboard, it plays loud; hit a key softly, it plays quietly - just like a piano. As you progress, you will need one of these type to play the "Dynamics" of music. Again, talk to your teacher or us if you feel you need advice on this.
