“Can we uninstall 2020 and install it again?"
2020 has been like no other year in our lifetime. It began with catastrophic bushfires in Australia and was followed by the Covid-19 outbreak which quickly swept across the world.
We would like to send our thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected by this terrible virus, and the fallout which has decimated the livelihoods of so many in our industry.
Replacing live gigs, practices, jam sessions, tours and teaching and introducing activities that supported social distancing—and in many cases complete lockdown—was easier said than done. With ingenuity, creativity and hard work you rose to the challenge of a completely different year. We saw some incredible virtual collaborations; competitions held online and an outpouring of musical creativity that was truly staggering.
We stayed connected.
As a Creative Community you were a wonderful support to one another. What a difference it made to know that we were not alone; that others were facing similar challenges; to find solutions to shared problems together; to find ways to play and create together. Thank you for your compassion, collaboration, courage and creativity.
NZ has much to be grateful for. While the rest of the world stays hunkered down, there has been a resurgence in live music across the country: we’re seeing live music venues supported, summer tours planned and full houses wherever live music is played. There is a sense of optimism and determination.
Kiwis have always loved music and it has never been more evident than this year as people flocked to rekindle – or start – a love affair with learning, playing and performing music.
You chose KBB Music & Rockshop to be your partners in your musical journey. Your support, encouragement and friendship has been an inspiration to us. We are incredibly grateful that your custom kept all of our people employed and gave us purpose during tough times.
We are also indebted to our teams around the country who stayed loyal, focused and committed to their Branch, their clients and their industry. You are the best of us.
The holidays can seem especially draining this year with all that is going on. We wish you moments of peace amid the difficulties, connections with family and friends even if they can’t be in person, and the warmth of memories from holidays past.
Take heart; slowly but surely the pandemic will fade, so let’s welcome 2021 warmly and with hope.
We wish you a very safe and Merry Christmas and may the New Year bring good health, happiness and good fortune.
